Our Mission & Vision
Our mission is to make, mature and mobilize disciples of Jesus Christ in order to magnify God's name.
We believe that everything we do stems from this basic mission; from prayer vigils to caring for infants in the nursery to Sunday tailgate parties. We strive to be a place where people feel welcome and comfortable. We encourage everyone to "come as you are" - you don't have to clean yourself up to come to church.
Our vision for this season at Hanfield is simple:
Offer Them Christ.
One of Pastor Tim's favorite pieces of art is a painting of the same title, painted by the American artist Kenneth Wyatt for for Bicentennial of American Methodism in 1984.
The painting (shown to the right) depicts John Wesley bidding farewell to Thomas Coke and his party as they prepare to embark for America from the Village of Pill on the River Avon in 1784. With a dangerous and uncertain trip ahead of them, John Wesley keeps Thomas Coke's charge simple: "Offer Them Christ."
We feel that God is charging us with the same simple phrase: "Offer Them Christ." After all, what good is our church if we don't offer Christ to those who need Him? And everyone needs Him! We want to be doers of the word, not just hearers. We want to take Christ to those in our community, and not just show Christ's example to others, but also OFFER Him to others. That's what we're here for!
