But I do love being a worship arts director. Activities & Interests: Our activities include watching the kids in sports and karate. Thursday night is pizza night at our place (just call if you're coming over!). I enjoy going on vacations with my family. We all like to go camping and fishing whenever possible. I love to sit beside our fire pit on a clear evening with close friends and look for satellites passing by while playing stupid campfire games. I enjoy football season, gardening, mowing, working with my hands, and working on old cars. But my passion is writing and performing music that glorifies and honors God. Favorite Music: My favorite music is my own because it has such personal meaning to me. But I love contemporary Christian music by folks like Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall, David Crowder, Steve Fee, Hillsong, PlanetShakers, Newsboys, Kristian Stanfill, Lincoln Brewster, Matt Redman, Vicky Beeching, Tree63, etc... Oh, and I like Elvis! Favorite TV Shows: ESPN, NFL Network, How It's Made, Ace of Cakes, American Idol, and The History Channel when it doesn't contradict the Bible and God's teaching. We Were Soldiers, Saving Private Ryan, Guns of Navarone, The Great Escape, The Patriot, Gladiator, To End All Wars, (any war movie - especially WWII), The Waterboy, Tommy Boy, Christmas Vacation, Grumpy Old Men, The Three Amigos, and Dead Poets Society. Favorite Books: Really the only books I read are the Bible and the dictionary (only becuz I haven't red enuff to no how to spel well). I'm not so hip on reading; although I have read Safely Home. Favorite Quotes: "Lay your ears back and get after it!" -Coach Jim Law "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." -Galatians 6:9 What Inspires You? I am inspired by God's word and His creation. These two things stir my soul and passion for serving Him more than anthing. My wife, Sara, also inspires me to be the best man and father I can be. I would be nothing without God and her. About Me: I was born in Marion General Hospital and lived in Converse, IN while growing up. My father is Jesse and my mother is JeanAnn Brookshire. I started playing guitar at age 7 and wrote my first song at age 9. My mother was my greatest musical influence while growing up. I attended Oak Hill High School and later went to Taylor University where I received my degree in Business Administration/Recreational Leadership. I met my wife, Sara, at Taylor and was married in December of 1990. I worked briefly for myself and then at Chrysler in Kokomo for over 12 years. I felt God's calling to leave Chrysler in 2002 and I started to become more involved in music. I was leading worship at Converse Church of Christ when God made it very clear it was time to leave Chrysler. I left after much prayer and faith that He would provide...and He did! Now, I'm at Hanfield where God has most definitely placed me. I feel very blessed to be a part of this church and His people. Contact: You can reach Lance at lance@hanfield.org or call 664.8726. |
