Tim ChambersCampus Pastor Birthday: August 2 Favorite Verses: John 13:34-35 What Did You Want To Be When You Grew Up? From about 5th grade, then very seriously in 8th grade, I wanted to be involved in ministry in some way. Being raised Catholic, that meant the priesthood, so I studied in a Catholic Seminary during High School. Later, after I had become a Christian during the 'Jesus Movement' in the mid-70's, I realized that we are all called to priest "according to the order of Melchizedek." (Plus I had met a blonde in high school and that kind of changed my focus a little.) Since then I have felt that serving the Lord in many situations WAS ministry. I have always felt that being involved in the world, but not of the world was never an option. Now I have the wonderful opportunity to do this as a vocation—it's such an honor! Activities & Interests: Any sport, especially High School basketball since I played it myself. When my kids were home, my answer would have been "whatever my kids are involved in." At this stage, it's "whatever my wife is involved in." I enjoy NASCAR, Ballroom dancing (we both love it) and of course spending time with good friends around a good meal. Favorite Music: Mostly contemporary Christian, (Casting Crowns; Michael W. Smith; Phillips, Craig & Dean), but I also throw in some Country (Brad Paisley) and some oldies (Eagles; Jim Croce). Favorite TV Shows: ESPN (I watch 3x per day, so I catch 'absolutely' everything) and Dancing With The Stars. Favorite Movies: Chariots of Fire; Four Feathers; Rudy; Hoosiers Favorite Books: It (by Craig Groeschel) and Our Town (by Cynthia Carr). Favorite Quote: "The early bird gets the worm, but the 2nd mouse gets the cheese." What Inspires You? People stepping out in faith and experiencing God in their lives in a fresh way...and then those that have had that experience, consistently modeling that for others for the rest of their lives. About Me: I moved around the country early in my life: Louisville, KY (where I was married); San Antonio, TX (where Beverly and I moved as newlyweds to help plant a church); and Oklahoma City, OK (where I moved as a result of a job promotion). I moved back to Marion in 1990, where Beverly and I were both raised, and then started my own company (Chambers Property Maintenance) in 1993. I quickly became very involved in the community, serving on several boards and community organizations. I went to work at Hanfield originally in 1999, taking about 3 years off in 2002 to build the company back up, and then came back to work at the church in 2005. I find sleep to be an annoying fact of life, my wife and kids to be the real joys of my life, Mexican food to be one of the greatest temptations of my life and serving the Lord to be one of the greatest callings in life.
