Tim Helm

Senior Pastor

Birthday: June 3

Favorite Verses: Philippians 3:10; Romans 8:11; Psalm 40.

What Did You Want To Be When You Grew Up? A play-by-play radio announcer for baseball.

Activities & Interests: First and foremost, I follow my kids' activities: ballgames, concerts, school stuff, etc. Now that Karen and I are empty nesters, we'll probably go nuts. However, I'm also an avid reader and like to read books on aviation and World War II. Whenever I get the chance, I fly a small private plane (which of course I do not own). Karen and I also enjoy going out to dinner with friends.

Favorite Music: Generally I listen to "adult contemporary": Greg Long; 4 Him; Phillips, Craig and Dean; etc. I also enjoy classic rock; Abba; and now I've been listening to our kids' music: Angels & Airwaves; Nickelback and Stellar Kart. (Am I a cool Dad or what?)

Favorite TV Shows: Other than ESPN and the NFL Direct Ticket, I don't watch much TV. When I do, I tune into The History Channel or Military Channel. My favorite show is Dogfights.

Favorite Movies: Chariots of Fire is still my all-time favorite, but Indiana Jones is very hard to beat.

Favorite Books: Well, I put my reading into two categories:

For Christian/church growth literature: A Voice in the Wilderness by Loran Helm (my uncle); Victory Through Surrender by E. Stanley Jones; Rees Howells Intersessor by Norman Grubb; and more recently Spiritual Leadership by Henry Blackaby.

For pleasure reading: I Could Never Be So Lucky Again by James Doolittle; Yeager by Chuck Yeager; and To Fly and Fight by Bud Anderson.

Favorite Quote: "Luck is the residue of design" - Branch Rickey

What Inspires You? Mostly I'm inspired when I see others witness for Christ. For instance, when an athlete or well-known celebrity lifts up the name of Jesus, I tend to shout.

About Me: After graduating from college, my ambition was to win the world for Christ. As I get older, I have come to realize that the best way to influence our world is one person at a time.
