Peter: The Boastful Failure
Change Your World
This Sunday we will continue our fall sermon series, Change Your World. Looking at several Biblical characters, we have been following this premise: "How can an ordinary person make a difference in the world?" This week, however, we will look at a particular individual that we might see as extraordinary in talent and skill: the apostle Peter. So, what makes him so intriguing to us in this sermon series?
In examining the many biblical figures in this series, hopefully the primary inspiration derived from this study will be in seeing how we can personally relate to each. Ananias was an "unknown"; Gideon was "the least in his family"; Purah (as we shall see) had never crafted a personal mission statement. Can you relate? The apostle Peter on the other hand, was a gifted leader and preacher. Perhaps we don't see a personal connection with his many talents, but he did something that all of us have done; he made a decision that he regretted for the rest of his life: he failed Jesus! Yet, God used him to literally change the world.
I have really been looking forward to preaching this message this coming weekend. I've been praying that you will be challenged and inspired this week in God's Word.
