A Picture of Forgiveness

Genesis 50:15-21
Was there a word or phrase that touches your heart? You can always go back and read the passage aloud. Now recall that word or phrase and take it in and mull it over – you might even close your eyes to just focus on this. After a few moments, write it down. Don’t write anything else.
As you pray, you may even pray through this passage again – searching for how forgiveness is illustrated. Meditate on what it feels like to be forgiven. How is this expression of love meaningful to you? Briefly note your thoughts.
Ask God to show you what you need to show or become in light of this for this day. Perhaps his invitation will have to do with a new perspective on who you are in his eyes, or maybe you sense an action he is calling you to take. After your prayer, write down what you feel invited to do.
Take time to meditate on the following quote from the Book of Common Prayer (1979), and let it become your own: “Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten; nor the hope of the poor be taken away.”
